澳大利亚昆士兰理工大学研究者对2000名恋人进行了为期5年的跟踪调查，其中一些人步入了婚姻殿堂，一些人最终分开。在分手者中，男性更容易通过酗酒、吸毒等方式排解痛苦。男性开始下一段感情的时间平均比女性短6个月。男性还经常试图掩饰他们的痛苦，很少向人倾诉。而分手后，女性能较好地适应关系的结束，因为她们会提前开始考虑分手的可能性以及应对方式。

Men also often try to cover up their pain and rarely confide in others. Previously, another related study showed that the happiness that love brings to men is equivalent to about 30,000 US dollars, which is about twice that of women. Breaking up will reduce the happiness of men and make them less confident. “In a sincere relationship, men are actually more afraid of breaking up than women, and they are even more reluctant to hear these two words,” the researcher said.
